Christopher Dane Shulby is the Head of Artificial Intelligence at Kin.
Working remotely from Lisbon, Portugal, Christopher is dedicated to developing AI technologies that prioritize user privacy and data protection. At Kin, the focus is on creating AI that not only aids in decision-making but also fosters meaningful human interactions.
Christopher holds a PhD in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the University of São Paulo, and is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. His academic journey delved into Speech Recognition techniques, with a particular focus on acoustic modeling for non-native speech. This exploration has contributed significantly to the broader fields of speech and language processing.
His noteworthy publications include works on word embeddings, zero-shot multi-speaker text-to-speech models, mild-cognitive impairment detection, and acoustic modeling using various innovative architectures.
Before his current role at Kin, Christopher led Data Science operations at QuintoAndar in Portugal, tackling challenges in search, ranking, and Computer Vision. He also made significant contributions as a leader at Samsung on the Bixby project. His work at CPqD and Vocalize Speech Solutions further reflects his commitment to advancing research in speech technology.
In addition to his roles in various organizations, Christopher has been instrumental in leveraging Text-to-Speech (TTS), Language Model pre-training (LLMs), and Conversational AI technologies for software development and research, further enriching the AI industry's landscape.
His collaborative approach to leadership has helped foster teams that have developed top-notch products and models, making notable contributions to the AI industry for Fortune 500 companies. His ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a wider audience underscores his value as a leader in the tech community.
