About Jamie Smith
has been working at the forefront of digital identity and customer-controlled personal data for nearly 15 years. He's helped deliver digital transformation at some of the world’s largest organisations and led breakthrough innovation and GTM across a range of digital ventures, especially around Decentralised Identity. He brings a breadth of experience across product, commercial, technology and strategy. He spent the first part of his career working on large business change projects for enterprises, but it was his work on customer privacy and personal data that set Jamie on a path to becoming a global expert on digital trust, data portability and developing pioneering customer-centric value propositions.
Since 2012 Jamie has focussed entirely on digital trust and creating value with personal data in the hands of the individual. He’s been responsible for cutting-edge work on new business models and data ecosystems; next-generation data technology platforms; advising on GDPR and digital trust; and building trustworthy digital UI/UX.
At Evernym, the pioneering digital wallet startup that sold to Gen Digital in 2021, Jamie led business development and strategic market engagement with clients including Mastercard, British Airways, Accenture, Deloitte, NHS, Novartis and the Red Cross.
During the Covid19 pandemic, Jamie led the product and commercial workstreams on IATA’s Covid Travel Pass. Working with dozens of airlines, governments, health authorities and clinics, Jamie helped devise and deliver the digital wallet platform that turned private identity and health data into portable verifiable credentials, helping restart the global travel industry.
Jamie is now the Founder and CEO of Customer Futures Ltd, an advisory firm helping businesses seize the opportunity for disruptive and customer-empowering digital propositions. He writes about the next billion-dollar market category - Empowerment Tech - at www.customerfutures.com.
