The Kinside Scoop 👀 #18
Kin just got a lot smarter — without us ever seeing your data.
What’s new with Kin 🚀
Cloud-powered, health-aware, and still completely private. Here’s everything.
🧠 A smarter Kin, still completely private
This is the big one. Every Kin user now gets their own personal encrypted database in the cloud, with the encryption key stored only on your device. That means we can use cloud processing power to run better daily insights, smarter pattern detection, and timelier notifications — without ever being able to see your data.
It’s the most private architecture we could build while still giving you the benefits of cloud. Your advisors are sharper, your insights arrive faster, and the trust model hasn’t changed one bit.
⚡ Your energy, in the picture
Kin now syncs with Apple Health and Google Health — so if you’re wearing an Apple Watch, Oura ring, or Whoop, your Kin gets the full picture of your energy. Pulse uses this alongside your calendar, conversations, and journal entries to help you plan around your energy rather than pushing through on empty. The more it can see, the better it gets at spotting patterns before things pile up.
Menstrual cycle tracking is supported too, for those using Flo or Health app tracking.
📥 Bring your AI history with you
Switching from ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI? Import your conversation history so Kin understands you from day zero. No more weeks of “getting to know you” — pair it with a LinkedIn import and Kin builds a rich picture of who you are from the first conversation.
👥 Ask the Board
Not sure which advisor to talk to about something? Ask the Board gives you a quick take from all five advisors — Sage, Aura, Harmony, Pulse, and Ember — so you can see who’s got the most relevant perspective, then dive deeper with them. It’s designed to remove the “who should I talk to about this?” friction and get you to the right conversation faster.
💬What we’re talking about
Kasper on Mesh Collective
Just got back from my second Mesh Collective session — a founder peer group where we dig into each other’s real challenges, not the polished LinkedIn version. If you’re a founder feeling like you’re figuring it out alone, you probably aren’t — you just haven’t found your room yet.
Kasper on founder mindset coaching with Johan Brand
I held a founder mindset session with Johan Brand, founder of Kahoot, recently — one of those conversations that reminds you why coaching matters, especially when you’re deep in the building phase. The best founders aren’t the ones with all the answers. They’re the ones who keep showing up and asking better questions.
Cal and Simon demoing live at Founders Cut
Product Lead Cal and CTO Simon are demoing Kin live at Founders Cut AI Demo Night, co-hosted by Lab08 and Seed Capital. Live demos of deeply personal AI — what could go wrong?
📚 Our current reads
“Is a secure AI assistant possible?”
MIT Technology Review If an AI assistant has access to your life, how do you stop it from leaking? Great context for why we’re so obsessive about privacy at Kin.
Google’s Personal Intelligence is rolling out to all US users
Google is letting Gemini dig into your Gmail, Photos, and Calendar for personalized responses. Their bet: users will trade privacy for convenience. Ours: you shouldn’t have to.
That’s it for this one. As always, we’d love to hear from you.
